HOKEMA - Kalimba B11 - "Melody" - Electro 432 Hz G major - GAEDCGDGF# BA

Retail: 107€

Kalimbas are lamellophones that originated in Southern Africa, where they can be found in countless forms and designs. Our Kalimba B11 'Melody' is meticulously handcrafted from solid American black cherry wood. The surfaces are treated and polished with vegetable oils and waxes. The 11 tines are precisely tuned to the G major scale, allowing a variety of well-known songs to be played. The "Melody" is also perfectly suited for improvisation and intuitive playing.

For playing and sound reasons, we have arranged the tines alternately with long and short ones. The six shorter tines have been bent so that their ends are on a higher level than those of the long tines, making them easily accessible by the thumbs. When playing notes from low to high, first the five long tines are plucked alternately with both thumbs from the center outwards – the right thumb starts on tine no. 6 – then the six short tines, also from the center outwards. The left thumb starts on tine 5.

The Kalimba B11 Electro model is equipped with a piezo pickup and a 6.35 mm jack socket. This allows direct sound pickup from the instrument, without an additional microphone.
