Kalimbas are lamellophone instruments that originated in southern Africa, where they can be found in countless shapes and designs. Our Kalimba B11 'Melody' is meticulously handcrafted from solid American cherry (black cherry). The surfaces are treated with vegetable oils and waxes and then polished. The 11 tines are precisely tuned to the G major scale, allowing a variety of well-known songs to be played. The "Melody" is also perfectly suited for improvising and intuitive playing.

For playing technique and sound reasons, we have arranged the tines by alternating long and shorter ones. The six shorter tines were bent so that their ends are at a higher level than those of the long tines, making them easily accessible to the thumbs. When playing notes from low to high, the five long tines are first plucked alternately from the center outwards with both thumbs - the right thumb starts on tine No. 6 - followed by the six short tines, also from the center outwards. Here, the left thumb starts on tine 5.
