The Twin Kalimba is 30 cm long and features two sets of identically tuned tines on opposite sides. This allows for playing alone or with a partner.

Playing with a partner
The actual reason for developing the Twin Kalimba was the desire for an instrument that would allow for playing together. Whether it's couples, friends, or therapist and patient, a shared sound experience is possible. Due to the identically tuned sets of tines, harmonious sequences of notes and sounds are always produced. The vibrations of the notes are transmitted to the wood and are not only acoustically, but also physically palpable for the playing partner.

Playing alone
Hold the Twin Kalimba horizontally in both hands so that each thumb plays one set of tines. The identically tuned sets of tines create a rich, resonant sound with many overtones, as each played tine causes the identically tuned note on the opposite side to resonate. The advanced kalimba player has a variety of scale-building possibilities by retuning individual notes.
